Summer Reading Program
Summer Reading Program
Summer Camp
School's out for summer and now it's time to take a hike into the summer reading program at the library! This year's summer reading program will motivate kids to collect as many stamps in their National Parks Passports as they can for the months of June, July, and August.
This summer reading program will be sponsored by Pennypickle's Workshop (museum), the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve (ecological park), Peltzer Farms (seasonal pumpkin farm), the Temecula Berry Company (blueberry picking farm), and the Swing Inn Cafe & BBQ (restaurant). The goal for the kids will be to collect as many stamps (points) in their passport as possible for themselves, with the chance to win big prizes from the various organizations mentioned above.
When the summer outdoor games kicks off, each child participating in the summer reading program will receive their very own National Parks Passport in which they will keep track of reading minutes, outdoor activity minutes, and attending special programming at the library. For each activity accomplished during the program, children will be able to earn stamps from the children's librarian (for 60 minutes of reading time, a stamp will be awarded, for 60 minutes of doing an outdoor activity, a stamp will be rewarded, etc.). Participants can come to the library at any time and show their passport to the children's librarian for stamps. When a child finishes a book, they have the option of earning an additional stamp for writing a book review that will be posted in the children's library. For every 15 stamps accrued, children will be able to choose a prize from the prize chest that contains small, novelty items (toys, lanyards, etc.). In addition to earning the small item, participants will fill out a ticket and place it in the end of the summer drawing box for the big prize each time they earn 15 stamps.
At the end of the three months, the five major prizes will be drawn and awarded to the winning participants; winners will be contacted beginning Monday, September 2.
