Special Events
National Parks Magic Show with Christopher T. Magician - Saturday, August 3, 11:00 am-12:00 pm
This unique magic show will focus on the National Parks. In this interactive magic show, children will learn about topics like water conservation, California history, storytelling, and will also feature Peanut the (adorable) rat to assist the magician. No registration needed and will be open to all ages. Once the show is over, children will be able to get their National Parks Passports stamped by volunteers. This event will take place in the community garden outside of the library.
Staffing: Christopher T. Magician will host the event. One librarian and 2 volunteers will help with anything needed to set up and take down along with stamping the passports.
Budget: The budget will be dedicated to booking the magician and will be totaled at $275.

Cirque Quirk Show - Saturday, August 10, 5:00-6:00 pm
This program will be held in the library community room. No registration will be required, but space will be limited. Hosted by Cirque Quirk, this circus show will feature LED performers juggling, hula hooping, stilt walking, and will also have a giant LED party robot. There will be an epilepsy warning for some of the strobe effects that will be seen in the show. Once the circus show is finished, children can get their "National Parks Passports" stamped for participation.
Staffing: The event will be hosted by Cirque Quirk. One librarian and 3 volunteers will assist with any setup necessary and with stamping passports.
Budget: The total budget will go towards hiring Cirque Quirk. Total cost: $450.

Joe Gandelman & Friends Ventriloquist Show - Saturday, August 24, 10:00-11:00 am
Hosted by Joe Gandelman, this fun event will include his "friends" (ventriloquist dummies) in an entertaining and interactive end towards the summer reading program. Gandelman will gear his act to the "Summer Camp" theme and it will be packed with many different characters, interaction with the audience, and laughter. There will be no registration, but spacing is limited so the library encourages attendees arrive at least 30 minutes early to get a seat. After the event is concluded, children will be able to get their "National Parks Passports" stamped by staff.
Staffing: The event will be hosted by Joe Gandelman. One librarian and 3 volunteers will assist with set up and stamping passports at the end of the event.
Budget: The total budget will go towards the hiring of Joe Gandelman. Total cost: $300.

Kids Talent Show - Saturday, August 24, 2:00-3:30 pm
Participants will be able to show their talents in this special end to the summer reading program. Two weeks prior to the event, children will need to preregister if they want to perform in the show so that accommodations can be made. Other children who want to be in the audience and simply watch do not need to register, but space is limited so they should get to the event early to ensure seating. This event will be hosted by one of the children's librarians. There will be a 15 minute intermission halfway through the program with refreshments being made available. Once the event is completed, staff will stamp "National Parks Passports" for participation.
Staffing: One librarian will host the event and 5 volunteers will assist with any preparations and teardown of the event along with manning the refreshments table.
Budget: Sound and lighting equipment will be either donated or rented ($100). Refreshments will cost around $60. Total cost: $160.
