The Brilliance of Basquiat Art Lesson - Saturday, February 24, 11:00-12:30
Partnering with a local school, an art class instructor will come teach a guided painting project focused on art inspired by Jean Michel Basquiat. The lesson will be guided by the art instructor, but participants will be able to add their own details and color choices to the project. All attendees will either take their art pieces home or have the option to display them in the library throughout the month of February, then retrieve them when the month is over. Registration will be required and limited to 20 participants.
Staffing: The art instructor will be hired to lead the class. One librarian and two volunteers will assist with set up and tear down and helping participants when needed.
Budget: The art instructor will receive $50 dollars for the hour-long lesson. Supplies needed are watercolor paper, crayons, black marker, oil pastels, pencils, and watercolor paints along with aprons and butcher paper coverings. These supplies will be sought through donations and bought new where needed, around $75. Total cost: $125.
