Special Event

Sci-Fi and Fantasy Faire

A local LARP/Amtgard group will be hired to perform a sword and lightsaber battle. After the presentation, children will be able to participate in a cosplay competition where all attendees will receive a small goody bag. There will be different activity areas for pool noodle jousting and children getting knighted by a volunteer dressed up as a king/queen along with a craft table for creating a nebula jar. Photo ops with fun backgrounds (astronauts with holes for faces to fit into, etc.) will be available. Refreshments will be served. Registration will be required and limited to 40 participants.

Staffing: One librarian and 4 volunteers will be made available to set up for the event, tear down, help with refreshments, man the activity areas, pass out the goody bags, and dress up as king/queen.

Budget: The LARP group will be paid $200 for their fight performance. Refreshments will cost around $50. Goody bags will include some donated and newly bought sci-fi and fantasy stickers, pencils, erasers, and mini dragon pop its for a total of $30. Pool noodles will be donated. The nebula jar project will cost $30 dollars, with most of the items donated. Total cost: $310.
