Special Event

Kindness Around the World - Saturday, November 16 2:00-3:30 pm

This special event will focus on the National Day of Kindness, typically celebrated on November 13. The event will take place in the community room and will require registration to participate. The librarian will discuss what the National Day of Kindness means and then go into the craft activities. The children will be split into different groups and rotate to the three different craft tables. There will be an origami making station, a Nazca lines craft station, and African magazine beads station. After each of the groups have finished each of the craft stations, there will be a refreshments table set up with some international snacks. Upon finishing the snacks, the event will finish with contributing to the World Kindness Wall that will then be displayed in the library. Children will trace their hands and write/draw a kind message/image.

Staffing: There will be one librarian hosting the program and 7 volunteers to help set up, lead each of the craft stations, assist with refreshments, work on the World Kindness Wall, and take down the event.

Budget: The budget will be dedicated to the refreshments and materials to use for the craft activities. The refreshments will cost around $60. The library will have some of the craft materials already, but will dedicate $30 from the budget. Total amount: $90.
