Baby Bouncers Storytime - Ages 0-23 months, every Monday and Wednesday, 10:00-10:20 am





This twice weekly storytime for babies is focused on engagement in enjoying simple stories, songs, parachute play, and early signs. No registration will be required to participate. Included activities, as briefly mentioned above, will be introductory songs, baby bounce, puppets and felt activities, movement breaks, short stories, and goodbye songs along with parachute play. This program will incorporate movement and language to keep babies engaged and learning new concepts. The focus of this program is on introducing babies to literacy through stories, songs, movement breaks, and being with other children. 

Staffing: One children's librarian will lead this storytime program.

Budget: Budget will be allocated to tangible items (puppets, felt activities, shakers, parachute, scarves, stuffed animals) that will last throughout the year. Total cost: $50.


Baby Bouncers Storytime Online - Ages 0-23 months, every Monday and Wednesday, 9:00-9:20 am

This online version of the storytime will be hosted on Zoom 9:00-9:20 am. Registration will be required. The structure will be the same as in-person, but more focus will be on caregivers/parents engaging with the child at home by seeing the librarian model the desired behavior.

Talented Toddlers Storytime - Ages 24-35 months, every Tuesday and Thursday, 10:00-10:20 am

This twice weekly storytime for toddlers is meant to help encourage imagination and learn more about the world. Through the storytime program, toddlers will learn through language, images, and books. Also important to the program will be learning a basic understanding of social skills with peers. The goal of Talented Toddlers Storytime is to expand a growing vocabulary with fun and interesting stories, rhymes, music, and play. The program schedule will begin with welcoming songs with movement, reading a story, song with visuals (felt, puppets), learning activity (felt story), movement break, and a goodbye song with puppets.

Staffing: One children's librarian will lead the program.

Budget: No regular costs, but will include budget for tangible items; most of the items available can be used from the Baby Bouncers Storytime. Total, initial cost: $30.


Talented Toddlers Storytime Online - Ages 24-35 months, every Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00-9:20 am

This online version of the storytime will be hosted on Zoom 9:00-9:20 am with registration required. The structure will be the same as in-person with support for vocabulary acquisition and learning through songs, stories, and movement. Librarians will model to the parents/caregivers how to pace the learning format and what questions/comments can be made during reading activity.

Preschool Power Storytime - Ages 3-5, every Wednesday and Friday, 12:00-12:30 pm

This twice weekly storytime is aimed for children 3-5 years old to develop further their burgeoning literacy skills. Through storytelling, rhymes, songs, and play, this program's goal is to foster early literacy skills and school readiness. The typical agenda for the Preschool Power Storytime is a welcome song with movement, picture book storytelling with questions asked throughout to garner reading comprehension and attention skills, puppet and felt activities, movement breaks, sing-alongs, and goodbye songs. The focus of this program is to have fun while learning important skills, including concentration, social skills, communication skills, and literacy skills. 

Staffing: One children's librarian will lead the program.

Budget: No regular costs. The budget would be dedicated toward procuring materials needed throughout the year. Total cost: $40.


Preschool Power Storytime Online - Ages 3-5, every Wednesday and Friday, 11:00-11:30 am

This online version of the storytime will be hosted on Zoom 11:00-11:30 am with registration required. The structure will include the same welcome and goodbye songs each week to keep the regular schedule and for children to understand when the beginning and ending of the program will be. More visuals and movement based activities will be incorporated to help facilitate attention and processing of information. The librarian will model for parents/caregivers how to facilitate the activities and engage effectively with the children via storytelling.

Family Fun! Pajama Storytime - All ages welcome, every Friday, 5:00-5:30 pm

This storytime is held once a week to focus more attention on building relationships between caregivers/family and children in activities that facilitate bonding and socializing while incorporating language and literacy skills. The goal is to empower the parent/caregiver to feel comfortable participating in leading learning and storytelling activities with their child.  The program will feature a book, play activities, and songs including heavy involvement with parent/caregiver. 

Staffing: One children's librarian will lead the program.

Budget: No regular cost. Initial cost will include props for the program, about $40.

Sunny Sensory Storytime - All ages welcome, every Thursday, 4:00-4:30 pm


This storytime is held once a week for all ages and abilities to come and learn through movement, music, stories, and sensory activities. This program will be specifically tailored for children that might find other storytimes challenging to participate in and will heavily incorporate visual schedules and the same routine as opposed to a constantly changing schedule of events. Registration will be required to make sure it will be a small and inclusive group. Sensory activities will be a prominent element in this program, including water beads, moon sand, beans, fidget toys, and squishy balls/items. Adjusting the lighting and environmental factors for the children in this group will be important to help create an ideal learning space for the participants.

Staffing: One children's librarian will lead this storytime program. Special emphasis should be placed on this librarian having training in how to lead a special needs program. Building trusting relationships with the families is an important aspect of this program and creating a welcoming environment for the child's team members, such as ABA therapists and respite workers will be important to assist in the child's learning.

Budget: There will be no regular cost for this program, other than possibly needing to purchase more sensory toys if some break. Total cost of sensory toys and materials: $50.

La Hora del Cuento Bilingual Storytime - Ages 0-5, every Monday, 4:00-4:30 pm


This weekly bilingual storytime will be led by the librarian in both English and Spanish. The benefits of learning multiple languages range from strengthening cultural identities and improving communication, memory, and focus (Everyday Library, 2021). This program will feature stories, fingerplays, songs, and play activities in Spanish and English. La Hora del Cuento Bilingual Storytime's goal will be to equally empower both the Spanish and English language so that children and their caregivers/parents will learn either/or. 

Staffing: One bilingual children's librarian will lead this storytime.

Budget: There will be no regular costs incurred. Puppets, stuffed animals, etc. from other storytimes can be incorporated into the bilingual storytime, so the total cost for the budget will be $0.

Peer Tutoring Homework Help - All ages welcome, every weekday, 3:30-6:00 pm


Every weekday in the after school hours, tutoring will be provided for students who would like one-on-one homework help. Tutoring is provided by qualified high school student volunteers . The program is free and no sign-up will be required. In addition to the one-on-one tutoring, the library offers free online service through brainfuse.com. The website offers a multitude of learning options for children including live tutoring, writing labs, and language labs to name a few. 

Staff: Preferably 3 tutors should be available during the time slots for homework help. Tutoring will be provided by high school students for which they will receive community service hours for their participation in the program. 

Budget: Brainfuse.com is free to all students who apply under the No Child Left Behind Act, thus the budget for this service will be $0.
